Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, better known by her stage name Katy Perry, was born on October 25, 1984 in the United States. She grew up listening to religious music at an early age and embraced the gospel music style and began her musical career. After signing a debut with Red Hill Records, she released her debut studio album, Katy Hudson, in 2001. But then she moved to Los Angeles to break out of the gospel music style. She finished with The Island Def Jam Music Group and Columbia Records, and then signed with Capitol Records in April 2007.
Katy Perry got a big break with her second studio album, One of the Boys, released on June 17, 2008. She achieved great commercial success with the singles “I Kissed a Girl” and “Hot n Cold” from her album. It has sold 11 million albums and 81 million singles worldwide, making it one of the best-selling artists of all time.
During her career, Perry has won five American Music Awards, fourteen People’s Choice Awards, four Guinness World Records, a Brit Award, and a Juno award. Perry was then ranked fourth on the 2019 “Highest-Earning Women in Music” list with $57.5 million. Later that year, with earnings of $530 million during the 2010s, the magazine also ranked her as the ninth highest-paid musician of the decade.
